AQUAEYE PRODUCT BENEFITS

With AQUAEYE, up to 8000 square meters of the water surface can be searched and assessed in less than 5 minutes. AQUAEYE is a tool for first responders that helps you coordinate your rescue forces. By first surveying the situation underwater, you can direct your rescuers to the location where a potential victim has been identified by AQUAEYE

AQUAEYE uses Artificial Intelligence to decide which echoes match those of a human body and displays the position of potential victims on the screen. Distance, direction, and approximate depth can be determined and used to brief rescue professionals. Additional information about the situation can be obtained from the sonar raw data display – EchoMap

It is not always possible to save a victim alive. AQUAEYE increases these chances, but it is no guarantee to save someone alive. Nevertheless, AQUAEYE can and is used not only for rescue but also for the search and recovery of victims.

AQUAEYE transmits a sonar pulse to a depth or distance of 50 meters and evaluates the returning echo using state-of-the-art AI-assisted sonar technology. AQUAEYE marks potential victims with an X and targets that are not clearly identified but have a high chance of being a victim with an O.

With the AQUAEYE portable rescue sonar device, rescuers can identify potential victims for the first time within seconds of being submerged in water. This change in search tactics in water rescue can have a positive impact on the safety of your rescue team because water is often a dangerous place. Therefore, the fewer rescuers have to enter the water, the safer you are and the fewer resources you need. These facts are especially important in the aftermath of a natural disaster

By speeding up the search, AQUAEYE can help significantly reduce the time your team spends in the water. Rescue teams can be guided to the scene of the incident in a targeted and accurate manner. Efficient use of your resources is important because teams that are in a single location during a lengthy water rescue or recovery cause resource bottlenecks that can lead to longer response times at other search locations and more man-hours.

The operation of AQUAEYE is kept very simple and the device is quickly ready for use. The screens are backlit and offer high contrast and are readable even underwater. The operation and interpretation of the AQUAEYE search results should be practiced but after about 2 hours of training, you will achieve high-quality results in complex scenarios.

It is not always possible to get close enough to rocks with the expensive side scan sonar. Or you have to worry about using it in the harbor between the many obstacles. It may also be unwise to deploy such a sonar under a pier. This is where AQUAEYE comes in, ideal for searching, rescuing, or recovering victims in such places.

AQUAEYE is built to keep your costs down. However, it is not only the pure purchase of the device that has to be taken into account but also the savings that are possible by operating the device throughout your organization. In particular, the TCO Total Cost of Ownership must be taken into account. AQUAEYE is built in such a way that it is stable and durable on the one hand and suitable for many different application scenarios on the other.

AQUAEYE ACCESSORIES

Scanning with AQUAEYE Sonar from an elevated position can be disadvantageous, as safe and steady handling is essential. This is not always possible from elevated positions. We recommend the AQUAEYEREACH” – A 1.5-meter long pole that helps you achieve perfect results when scanning from a pier, harbor, ship, boat, ice surface, or from a narrow bridge.

AQUAEYE® - IN WHICH RESCUE AREAS AND RESCUE APPLICATIONS IS AQUAEYE USED WORLDWIDE?

AQUAEYE® is primarily used in situations involving the rescue of drowning persons or the recovery of drowned persons. It is an important tool for rescue workers who have already arrived at the location of the operation and every second counts to save or rescue the affected person. The AQUAEYE® was specifically designed for this purpose and is an indispensable tool for professional rescue teams. The deployment of classic rescue teams takes some time. Usually, these teams must first dress according to the situation (for example, in wetsuits) or prepare their diving equipment. It also takes a few minutes to prepare rescue equipment such as boats or side-scan sonar. The time that is often not available for operational rescue in the water.

We see, however, it may take some time to deploy resources to the scene for rescue. During this time, however, it is possible to get an initial overview of the situation at the scene with AQUAEYE®. Within seconds, the device can be activated to perform an initial scan and scan the terrain.

If no results are displayed, further scans can be performed, firstly to ensure that there are no victims to be recovered in one area and secondly to determine the exact position, distance, and depth of a victim in another area. It is recommended that only in rare cases and by trained personnel that a full 180-degree scan be performed with the rescue sonar. Generally, you will get better results from multiple short sonar scans. If results are displayed in one area, it is advisable to confirm them by changing position by several meters and then coordinating the rescue forces that are now standing by. In very complex cases, the information from the echo map (raw data) can be used for additional evaluation of the situation underwater.

Thus, when results are displayed in an area, there is a good chance that victims can actually be found there. The purpose of AQUAEYE® is now to effectively coordinate the rescue forces in this area in a resource-saving way and to provide them with the important information that AquaEye has delivered.

If it is not possible to get an overview of the underwater situation using sonar, water rescue teams usually rely on a rescue chain. This means that the area is searched by many rescuers. Searching an area of 8000 m2 takes at least 30 minutes or even more, depending on the personnel involved. Depending on the water situation, your rescuers may also be at risk. Rescuers involved in a rescue chain are not available elsewhere to rescue people. This is especially the case during major catastrophic events. AQUAEYE® can help in that it helps you use fewer resources in one place because you can rescue faster and more effectively.

AQUAEYE®, like many rescue tools, is an additional option in your portfolio of rescue tools. It is not a replacement for another device you already have. It serves as first aid for first rescuers and for better coordination of your crew. It closes the gaps between professional rescue equipment and minimal rescue equipment. Like any rescue device, AQUAEYE® does not provide a 100% guarantee of safe rescue, but it greatly increases the chances and speed of a rescue mission. Fire departments, water rescue, lifeguards, technical relief organizations, military and civil protection but also private people who run for example a beach or a hotel can use Aquaeye after proper training.

AQUAEYE® does the job even where others with their expensive equipment do not want to go. In the vicinity of cliffs and rocks as well as between the columns of piers or in narrow harbor areas.

AQUAEYE® - FIELDS OF APPLICATION

AquaEye® expands the range of options available to rescuers quickly and easily. It enables faster and safer rescues for responders, and it requires fewer personnel resources for a rescue mission.

AquaEye® uses SONAR technology. This acronym stands for SOund and NAvigation Ranging. A sonar, like a dolphin, sends sound waves through the water and receives the echoes, which can be caused by objects or living creatures. The sonar measures the length of time it takes for a sound wave to be received again. Sound waves from objects and living beings differ in many criteria, which the artificial intelligence AI of AquaEye® can measure, evaluate and display.

AquaEye® and AI supported SONAR technology is used in the following situations:

  • In rescue operations (rescuing people or animals).
  • In salvage operations (recovery of people or animals).
  • In underwater object detection (AI can also detect objects).
  • In clean or even very turbid water (beaches or river pools)
  • In heavily polluted water after storms or disasters
  • Use by professional rescue divers
  • Use by lifeguards and lifeguards
  • Use by fire departments
  • Use by police
  • Use by rescue organizations
  • Application by military forces
  • Application in diving or in open water / swimming
  • Application near the beach / standing or kneeling
  • Application from boats, jetties or in harbors
  • Application from jet skis or surfboards
  • Application in rivers, lakes or in the sea
  • Application after flood disasters
  • For the search of missing persons or animals

FOR WHICH APPLICATION DO I NEED THE AQUAEYE® "REACH

If you have ever been in a situation to use an inflatable boat you will recognize the purpose. A scan from the pier or even from the inflatable boat is feasible. However, since scanning requires safe and steady handling, such scans are not easy to accomplish. The AQUAEYE® “Reach” can help you to achieve absolutely safe and reliable scan results. Whether from a boat, ship, pier, cliff, bridge, harbor, or even from an ice surface. The “Reach” makes it easier for you to operate in such elevated places or exposed locations.

The “Reach” is an approximately 1.5 meters long and foldable pole. The AquaEye can be attached to it and the trigger of the AquaEye can be operated and adjusted from above the water surface.
